During a recent government meeting, officials highlighted two significant upcoming events aimed at honoring local veterans and promoting civic engagement.
The first announcement was regarding the Mayor Brent Taylor Gala, scheduled for November 8, 2024, at the Ogden Echols Conference Center. This gala not only serves as a remembrance of Mayor Taylor, a fallen soldier and member of the armed forces, but also aims to support a scholarship initiative in his name.
In addition, the council discussed the upcoming Veterans Parade, also taking place in November. Community members interested in participating are encouraged to complete an application available online, with submissions directed to Dennis Howlett or the Parks and Recreation department. The council emphasized the importance of community involvement, urging residents to attend the parade to show support for veterans.
Lastly, officials reminded attendees that ballots for the upcoming election have been mailed out. Residents were encouraged to review candidates carefully and ensure their votes are submitted by the postmark deadline to be counted.
The meeting concluded with a call for adjournment, reflecting on the productive discussions and the importance of community engagement in honoring those who serve.
