Dia, a senior at Newfield High School, was honored as the Student of the Month for October. Described as a model student and leader, Dia is heavily involved in numerous extracurricular activities, including serving as president of the National Honor Society and participating in the American Red Cross's humanitarian efforts. Her teachers praised her maturity, dependability, and dedication to helping others. Dia plans to pursue a degree in psychology, aspiring to become a psychiatrist, inspired by her mother's hard work and support.
At Selden Middle School, 8th grader Jeanie Marcano Robles was named Student of the Month. Teachers highlighted her respectful demeanor, strong work ethic, and commitment to helping her peers, particularly in her role as a bilingual student assisting others in learning English. Jeanie has maintained honor roll status throughout her middle school career and aspires to play soccer at Yale while pursuing a career in pharmacy or physical education.
Dawnwood Middle School recognized Adam Kazanovich as their October Student of the Month. Adam, who has been an active member of the board game club and excels academically, is noted for his kindness and leadership qualities. He has maintained an impressive academic average and is involved in various extracurricular activities, including orchestra and soccer.
The meeting also celebrated athletic achievements, with Sean Edbert from Centereach High School being named Male Athlete of the Month for his leadership in the golf team, which recently broke a school record. Newfield's Female Athlete of the Month, Lily Kolosinski, was recognized for her exceptional performance in volleyball, while Michael Ramos Cody earned accolades for his dedication and success in cross country.
