Nichols Middle School's cross country teams have made a remarkable impact this season, with the 7th grade boys finishing first in their district after delivering their best race of the year. The 7th grade girls team also shone brightly, remaining undefeated and claiming the Bone Star 8 District Cross Country Championship by winning all five of their meets.
Coach Wilson and Coach Brooks lead the cross country teams, which include 7th and 8th grade boys and girls. Notable individual achievements include Julian Duran, who emerged as the district champion for the 7th grade boys, and a strong showing from the 8th grade boys team, who also secured the Lone Star 8 District Championship.
In addition to cross country, the 8th grade football teams have had a successful season. Coached by Coach Dixon, Coach Fox, Coach Ferdwell, and Coach Lopez, the teams recently triumphed in the annual Battle of 174 against Naples Middleton, with the A team winning 24-6 and the B team securing a 14-0 victory. The Lawson Middle School football team remains undefeated this season, while the A team has only one loss, currently tying for first place in their league.
As the season progresses, both the cross country and football teams are gearing up for their final games, with hopes of continuing their winning streaks and competing for championships.
