In a recent government meeting, the council approved a series of consent agenda items, including significant funding for public safety and infrastructure improvements. The agenda, which included items A through L, was unanimously approved by all members present.
Key approvals included a grant from Plains All American Pipeline amounting to $8,209 for the purchase of 30 new fire hoses, and a $5,000 donation from Eskridge Chevrolet designated for protective equipment for personnel. Additionally, the council approved a budget amendment affecting various funds, including the fire fund and capital project fund.
Several contracts with Myers Engineering were also approved, totaling over $600,000 for various projects, including the West Side Booster Pump Station replacement and upgrades, as well as ADA accessible improvements for intersections and sidewalks. The council also allocated funds for the reconstruction of the Highland Park Municipal Pool and the expansion of the Owen Field Softball Facility.
The meeting also addressed the annual signing of the code of ethics for elected and appointed officials, which was acknowledged by all council members for the 2024-2025 year.
Lastly, the council decided to reject all bids related to the Owen Field softball facility project, with further discussions anticipated involving the city manager and engineering representatives.
