City unveils ambitious 2025 budget plan

In a recent government meeting, city officials discussed key financial matters, including the acceptance of tax rates and the presentation of the fiscal year 2025 operating budget. Director Bury from the Department of Finance outlined a resolution to accept the tax rates set by the Franklin County budget commission, which allocates funds to the bond retirement fund, general fund, and police pension fund. Additionally, the meeting addressed a request for supplemental appropriations related to the Tax Increment Financing (TIF) funds and bond retirement fund. An error in the budget import process led to a miscalculation affecting the revenue sharing agreement with Mifflin Township, necessitating a supplemental appropriation of $113,661 for the Johnstown Road TIF. The bond retirement fund also requires an additional $1,150 due to higher-than-anticipated auditor and treasurer fees.
