In a recent board meeting, the educational achievements of students from Houston County High, Northside High, and Warner Robins High were celebrated, highlighting the district's impressive performance in Advanced Placement (AP) exams. Last school year, over 34,100 AP exams were administered, with a significant number of students aiming for scores of 3 or higher. Notably, the district saw an exceptional number of students achieving perfect scores of 5, necessitating two board meetings to accommodate the honorees.
Houston County High School reported that 89 students scored at least one 5 on their AP exams, with 33 graduates now attending college. The school presented a selection of students who were able to attend the meeting, as many others were engaged in ongoing AP courses or specialized programs. Among those recognized were students who excelled in subjects such as AP Precalculus, AP Environmental Science, AP Psychology, and AP World History.
The meeting featured individual introductions from students, showcasing their specific achievements. For instance, students like Abby Bragg and Carson Dempster proudly shared their scores in AP Precalculus and AP Language, while others like Roxanda Malcoch impressed the audience with multiple perfect scores across various subjects.
As the meeting progressed, Northside High School was set to follow, continuing the celebration of academic excellence within the district. This recognition not only highlights the students' hard work but also underscores the district's commitment to fostering a culture of academic achievement.
