Andy Oakes, a local resident, emphasized the catastrophic consequences a fire could have, particularly during drought conditions. He criticized the limited notification efforts, which included a small sign and a brief newspaper notice, arguing that these measures failed to adequately inform the community about the potential dangers. Oakes urged officials to reject the special use permit until residents are fully informed of the risks they may face.

Concerns were echoed by other community members, including Terry Bays, who pointed out that many residents in nearby Scott Blue Acres are elderly and may be particularly vulnerable in the event of an emergency. Justin Brown, another resident, referenced a recent incident in California where a similar facility burned for five days, releasing toxic emissions into the air. He stressed the importance of considering the health and safety of the community before moving forward with the project.
