In a recent briefing, Lee's Summit City Council member Laura Engemann highlighted several upcoming community events and initiatives aimed at fostering local engagement and support.
The city is gearing up for its beloved Oktoberfest, scheduled for September 27th to 29th in Downtown Lee's Summit. This family-friendly festival, a staple for over 30 years, will feature two stages of live entertainment, traditional German cuisine, dancing, a carnival, and various children's activities, promising a weekend of fun for residents and visitors alike.
Additionally, the city has partnered with the Community Blood Center to host a blood drive on October 7th from 10 AM to 4 PM at the city's maintenance facility. Donors will have the chance to win two tickets to a Kansas City Chiefs game, including a parking pass, incentivizing community participation in this vital health initiative.
Engemann also encouraged residents to join the \"Make A Difference\" stream team on October 12th, an effort focused on protecting local waterways by removing litter and debris. Participants will be provided with trash bags and gloves, and opportunities for community service hours are available for students and scouts.
Residents are reminded that City Council meetings are open to the public and can be viewed live on the city's YouTube channel, with recordings available for those unable to attend. For more information on these events and to stay updated, residents can subscribe to the Council Debrief newsletter or visit the city’s website.
