During a recent Boynton Beach city commission meeting, significant concerns were raised regarding the treatment of city employees, particularly in relation to allegations of discrimination and misconduct within the city management. Destiny Williams, daughter of former HR Director Tenille Gross, spoke passionately about her mother’s unjust treatment after she raised concerns about comments made regarding the hiring of Black women. Williams highlighted her mother’s commendable performance, which included closing union contracts and saving the city over $1.3 million annually, contradicting claims of poor performance that led to her tarnished reputation.
Williams expressed her frustration over the city’s actions, questioning the rationale behind a substantial pay raise given to her mother if her performance was indeed lacking. She called for an end to what she described as slander and unethical behavior, urging the commission to consider the emotional toll on families affected by such actions.
Following Williams, Danielle Gross, also a former city employee, detailed her own experiences with the city’s management, including the closure of an ethics inquiry against her. She accused the city of failing to provide necessary documentation during investigations and claimed that her reputation was damaged by unfounded allegations. Gross announced her intention to pursue legal action against the city for slander and demanded transparency regarding her public records requests.
Wesley Shuler, another speaker, echoed concerns about potential corruption within the city management, urging the mayor to initiate an investigation into the actions of the city manager and legal counsel. He emphasized that the city could have avoided lawsuits had they acted more judiciously in handling the allegations against the employees.
The meeting underscored a growing tension between city employees and management, with calls for accountability and transparency resonating strongly among the speakers. The commission faces mounting pressure to address these serious allegations and restore trust within the community.
