The Elsa Gondo Women's Club, a historic institution in El Segundo, celebrated its 102nd anniversary and received a significant honor this year by being added to the National Register of Historic Places. Originally established in 1912, the club is one of only two historic sites recognized in Southern California, marking a notable achievement for the local community.
During a recent meeting, club representatives highlighted the importance of this recognition and encouraged community members to utilize the clubhouse for various events, emphasizing that rental income is vital for the club's sustainability. The gathering also acknowledged the efforts of several individuals who contributed to organizing the event, including Carol Cervantes and Cara Baldino, as well as participants Janice Marcos, Kathy Sparell, and Jennifer Gage.
The meeting was filmed by Elsa Gondo TV and will be made available on YouTube, allowing a broader audience to engage with the club's activities and history. However, it was noted that one of the candidates scheduled to attend was unable to be present. The club continues to invite the community to celebrate and participate in its ongoing legacy.
