During a recent government meeting, officials celebrated the recognition of the Pennock E. Sharpless House, which has been added to the National Register of Historic Places. This marks the first national register listing for Concord Township in 34 years. The nomination was spearheaded by Emma Lushner, a board member of the Concord Township Historical Society, who conducted extensive research and compilation for the application.
The house, located in the historic district of Ward, has undergone significant restoration efforts by homeowners Mr. and Mrs. Gaugler, who were commended for their dedication to preserving the property. The meeting included a formal motion to recognize this achievement, which was unanimously approved by the members present.
In addition to the recognition, the meeting outlined upcoming events, including a Park and Recreation Board meeting on October 3rd, a Historical Commission meeting on October 9th, and a Senior Citizen Expo on October 10th. Notably, on October 19th, the township will host a recycling day and tree giveaway at the Township Garage, which will also include a shredding event and a collection for unused or expired medications. The event is set to proceed regardless of weather conditions.
