A recent investigation at 328 North 15th Street has revealed troubling conditions following a call regarding a deceased individual found inside the home. The investigation, which is currently classified as a homicide inquiry, led authorities to obtain a search warrant for the property.
Upon entering the residence, investigators discovered evidence suggesting that the home had been occupied by squatters. Makeshift beds, food remnants, and various personal items were scattered throughout the premises, indicating that people had been living there. Notably, drug paraphernalia, including crack pipes and aluminum foil used for drug preparation, was also found, raising concerns about substance abuse within the property.
The condition of the home was described as hazardous, with old food and unsanitary living conditions evident throughout. Despite these conditions, electricity was still running in the house. Investigators concluded that the individuals found inside the home were there without the owner's permission, as one admitted to breaking in after realizing the property was abandoned.
Building inspector Kevin Young, who also assessed the property, confirmed that he found no active utilities during his inspection. He subsequently posted the property as \"unfit for human occupancy,\" highlighting the serious safety concerns associated with the living conditions.
The investigation continues as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the deceased individual and the ongoing presence of squatters in the home.
