During a recent government meeting, local resident Kate Peterson expressed her gratitude to the council for their commitment to road safety and affordable housing in Littleton. Peterson, who lives near Runyon Elementary, highlighted the positive impact of a newly added crosswalk on her daughter's daily walk to school. However, she emphasized that her primary concern was the pressing issue of affordable housing in the city.
As the chair of South Metro Housing Options, Peterson acknowledged the ongoing support from the council for affordable housing initiatives. She referenced a recent resident survey indicating that affordable housing and the cost of living are the top concerns for residents. Peterson also shared insights from her attendance at the Housing Colorado Conference, where discussions included high insurance costs and mobile home park preservation, underscoring the broader challenges of affordable housing not just in Littleton but across the state.
Peterson thanked the council for their partnership with South Metro Housing Options and expressed her commitment to continuing collaborative efforts to address housing issues in the community. The meeting also featured Jim Escola, who began his remarks by thanking the council for the opportunity to speak, indicating a continued engagement from residents on local matters.
