A local non-profit organization dedicated to youth sports has reported significant growth in its programs over recent years, driven entirely by a team of dedicated volunteers. Established in 2016, the organization initially offered a tackle football program alongside a sideline cheer program, which focused solely on supporting the football teams without participating in competitions.
Since its inception, the organization has expanded its offerings, now including a spring flag football program and a newly launched all-girls division within that program. Additionally, the cheer program has evolved to feature two distinct branches: the Sparkle Cheer program, which provides a less intensive commitment for cheerleaders, and a competitive cheer program that participates in events organized by the Illinois Cheer Association, aiming for state championship qualifications.
The growth in participation is notable. The organization has seen its numbers swell from approximately 80 football players and 60 cheerleaders in its early days to 178 tackle football players and around 160 cheerleaders across both programs this year. This increase reflects the organization's commitment to providing diverse athletic opportunities for youth in the community, all managed by a volunteer board and coaching staff.
