During a recent government meeting, several individuals were honored for their heroic actions and contributions to the community. Certificates of recognition were presented to Ms. Janelle Schumacher, Mr. Milko Todorov, and Ms. Nadia Vugasheus for their roles in saving the life of a three-year-old child at a local pool.

Janelle Schumacher, a former student and current college attendee, was recognized for her service as a lifeguard. Her mother, Julie Schumacher, accepted the award on her behalf. Mr. Todorov, a parent at Baker Elementary, was acknowledged for rescuing the child from the pool, while Ms. Vugasheus was commended for her quick thinking and CPR skills that ultimately saved the child's life. The meeting highlighted the importance of CPR certification and community involvement, with attendees expressing gratitude for the bravery displayed by these individuals.

Additionally, the Moreland School District received accolades for its commitment to inclusivity during LGBTQ+ History Month. This honor was largely attributed to the efforts of the Moreland Middle School's Unity Club, which promotes LGBTQ inclusion and education. Ashley Benjamin, the club's advisor, along with Grace Kim and Claudia Ott, were recognized for their contributions to fostering a supportive learning environment for all students.
