City Council Meeting Highlights Community Engagement and Upcoming Events
During the recent Wilmington City Council meeting, members expressed gratitude for community initiatives and announced several upcoming events aimed at fostering local engagement.
Council member Johnson opened the meeting by thanking local businesses and organizations for their contributions to the first day of school, highlighting efforts by The Warehouse in Kingswood and Stubb School, where students received essential supplies like book bags and haircuts. The warm reception at Pritchett Academy was noted, with over 60 attendees celebrating the school's opening.
Council member Cabrera congratulated the community for the successful Hispanic Festival, which featured a parade and local business participation. Additionally, Council member Oliver announced the second annual Black Restaurant Week, set to take place from September 29 to October 5. This initiative, coordinated with the Delaware Black Chamber of Commerce, will feature numerous participating restaurants and a bar crawl, along with ribbon-cutting ceremonies for new establishments.
