Residents Rally Against Controversial Gas Station Proposal

In a recent city council meeting, residents of Casa Grande expressed strong opposition to a proposed Kwik Trip gas station at the intersection of Tucker and McCartney Center. Concerns centered around traffic safety, neighborhood devaluation, and the potential influx of heavy truck traffic due to the station's diesel fueling capabilities.

Several residents voiced their fears that the gas station, which includes plans for three diesel fueling bays, would attract semi-trucks and increase congestion in an already busy area. One resident, Bridal, highlighted the dangers posed to families and pedestrians, particularly with an upcoming apartment complex nearby that would further increase foot traffic. She argued that the approval of the gas station prioritizes corporate profits over community safety.

Another resident, Angie McKinley, pointed out that while the city council appears to be against the project, a negative stance towards growth could hinder the city’s development and amenities. She emphasized that the costs associated with road improvements required by Kwik Trip would not fall on taxpayers, as the company would bear these expenses.

Catherine Blaker, also a resident, echoed concerns about the safety of the neighborhood, questioning the involvement of non-residents in the decision-making process regarding local developments. She expressed her disapproval of the gas station, stating that it would not benefit the community.
