Residents of the community are gearing up for Family Day, set to take place in just under three weeks, with expectations of drawing between 1,800 to 2,000 attendees. Tom Dykes from the Cameron Road Recreation Board emphasized the need for volunteers to assist with setup and breakdown, highlighting the collaborative spirit required to make the event successful. Volunteers are encouraged to help from 8 AM to 4 PM, with various roles available, including managing booths and logistics.

Dykes also addressed ticket distribution for the event, urging residents to refrain from requesting tickets for children or grandchildren who do not reside in their households, as this has previously led to complications and increased costs. He reassured attendees that parking will be available at Coburn Elementary School, with a complimentary shuttle service to ease transportation.

In addition to Family Day, Dykes outlined several upcoming community events, including a golf outing on October 6, a flea market on October 20, and a trunk-or-treat event. He also mentioned a musical program for children hosted by the Middletown Library on November 14, encouraging early registration due to limited capacity.

Looking ahead to the end of the year, the community will host a senior luncheon and a tree lighting service on December 8, aimed at fostering social connections among seniors and celebrating the holiday season. Dykes noted that the Family Day initiative has already raised over $16,000 to cover event expenses, underscoring the community's commitment to supporting local activities and engagement.
