In a recent government meeting, officials provided a comprehensive update on the district's amended recovery plan, emphasizing the critical nature of the current year as they aim to exit receivership. The presentation highlighted a shift from implementation to evidence tracking, with a new tool being developed in collaboration with PFM to monitor progress on the 62 initiatives outlined in the recovery plan.
The tool, set to be unveiled at an upcoming meeting, will not only track evidence but also monitor the status of each initiative—indicating whether tasks are pending, in progress, or completed. It will detail the frequency and type of evidence required, ensuring clarity for district administrators responsible for these initiatives.
Recent updates from the Office of Academics were also discussed, including the use of academic data to enhance instructional practices. The office has initiated professional development sessions and restructured its coaching programs to better meet the needs of schools. Instructional coaches are now supervised by the Office of Academics and deployed based on specific building needs, while the role of the director of schools has shifted to focus more on coaching rather than evaluation.
Additionally, the meeting addressed the rollout of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) manual, with training planned for principals and staff later this month. Updates to board policies were also noted, alongside progress in the finance department, where a centralized contract database has been established, currently housing 746 documents.
Overall, the meeting underscored the district's commitment to transparency and accountability as it works towards fulfilling its recovery objectives.
