In a recent government meeting, representatives from Gaslight Properties presented their plans for the Sherman Oaks Apartments project, which aims to provide affordable housing in Norwood. The development will consist of two four-story buildings, each housing 54 units, totaling 108 apartments designed for young professionals, families, and the aging population. The project will also include 143 parking spaces, with provisions for accessibility, including six ADA-compliant apartments.
The site, covering 2.52 acres, will improve the pervious area from 14% to 36%, enhancing water drainage and sustainability. The developers emphasized their commitment to using energy-efficient materials and creating green spaces, including lawns and seating areas, to foster community engagement. A notable feature of the project is its connection to the Norwood Loop, promoting outdoor activities and accessibility to Upper Millcrest Park.

However, conditions were set for approval, including the need for water pressure calculations to ensure adequate fire safety measures for the top floors of the buildings. The commission also requested a title guarantee for the open spaces designated in the development.
The project aligns with the city’s goals of increasing affordable housing options, particularly for those earning 80% or less of the median income in Hamilton County. The developers plan to move forward with construction in one phase, pending the fulfillment of the outlined conditions. The commission's motion to accept the final submittal passed unanimously, marking a significant step toward the realization of the Sherman Oaks Apartments.
