At a recent gathering, Betty Bai Niu, chair of the Vietnamese Americans for America First organization, delivered a passionate address highlighting the economic struggles faced by American families under the current administration. Bai Niu, a business owner and mother, emphasized her commitment to American values and her opposition to communism, drawing on her personal experience as a Vietnamese immigrant.
In her speech, she painted a grim picture of the current economic climate, citing significant increases in the cost of living. Bai Niu reported that grocery prices have surged by 21.3%, rent by 21.5%, and electricity costs have risen by 31.6%. She also noted that gas prices have remained above $3 for over three years, while car insurance has skyrocketed by nearly 53%.
Bai Niu attributed these challenges to the policies of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, claiming that inflation has exceeded 3% for 39 consecutive months. She expressed a strong belief that the current administration has failed to address these issues, contrasting it with the affordability she experienced during Donald Trump's presidency.
Furthermore, Bai Niu underscored the fears many Vietnamese Americans hold regarding communism, referencing the traumatic experiences of those who fled Vietnam. She criticized the Democratic Party, particularly Biden, Harris, and California Governor Gavin Newsom, for what she described as the degradation of the state and its safety.
Her remarks resonated with attendees, reflecting a broader sentiment of discontent among certain communities regarding the current political and economic landscape.
