Forest Grove Elementary School celebrated a significant milestone as it marked the completion of its first year in the NOAA Ocean Guardian School program. The event, attended by students, families, and community members, highlighted the school's commitment to environmental stewardship and ocean advocacy.

Seaberry Nashbar, an educational coordinator with NOAA, addressed the gathering, expressing her enthusiasm for the program that empowers students to become advocates for the ocean. She emphasized the importance of the \"6 R's\"—refuse, rethink, reduce, reuse, rot, and recycle—encouraging students to actively engage in practices that protect marine environments.

Throughout the year, students participated in various stewardship activities, including trash cleanups and educational presentations aimed at raising awareness about ocean health and the impact of plastic waste. The program aims to combat the staggering statistic that approximately 10 million tons of plastic enter the oceans annually.
