Houston faces financial crisis as credit outlook turns negative

In a recent government meeting, Houston's financial outlook was a focal point, with Controller Chris and Finance Director Melissa Dabowski presenting the monthly financial report for August 2024. The report revealed a projected ending fund balance of $302.1 million for fiscal year 2025, which is $18.6 million lower than earlier estimates due to reduced revenue projections. Key adjustments in the financial report included an increase in revenue projections by $900,000, attributed to higher chargebacks for police services at Bush InterContinental.
