In a recent government meeting, key educational leaders outlined their strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing academic support within the district. Dr. Goelanger and his team are set to lead the district into the School Support Program (SSP) on September 25th, focusing on a thorough review of self-assessments and aligning them with school improvement goals.

The discussions highlighted the importance of fidelity checks and professional development needs to ensure that educational objectives are met effectively. A significant emphasis was placed on reviewing academic support, particularly in English and the arts, at the middle and high school levels. This review process mirrors the successful strategies previously implemented in K-5 education, aiming to evaluate the effectiveness of reading interventions and the overall delivery of services.

The team plans to initiate discussions on reading interventions starting from grade 5, identifying families of students who qualify for individual reading improvement. Following the completion of assessments, students will be regrouped for targeted interventions to enhance their learning outcomes.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the implementation of tier 1 strategies across all buildings, with an optional check-in already scheduled to assess progress early in the academic year.
