The discussions highlighted alarming statistics and personal testimonies, emphasizing the urgent need for improved education and resources related to Title IX, which protects students from sexual discrimination.

Somya Bodnapu, a senior at Seminole High School, presented a survey indicating that 78% of students at a Connecticut high school reported experiencing sexual harassment. She urged the board to place Title IX informational flyers in bathrooms for discreet access and called for a clear flowchart outlining the reporting process for students. Bodnapu stressed the importance of making Title IX comprehensible for both students and teachers, advocating for in-person seminars to reinforce understanding and support.

Claudia Hernandez Cruz echoed these sentiments, highlighting the necessity for students to be aware of their rights under Title IX and the resources available to them. She called for immediate action to ensure that students who report harassment receive appropriate responses from school administration.

Vasundura Murlidaran emphasized the need for proactive education on consent and boundaries, arguing that such lessons could foster a culture of respect and understanding among students. Joshua Mariano pointed out that while SCPS has made strides in training staff on Title IX, the training must be interactive and clearly outline teachers' responsibilities in supporting students.

Rashita Majaredi and other students reiterated the importance of institutional support for survivors, urging the board to ensure that Title IX policies are clearly communicated and accessible. They called for the creation of Title IX training sessions for students, as many are unaware of their rights and the resources available to them.
