In a recent government meeting, plans for a new development project on Flagler County's island house were unveiled, highlighting the construction of seven cottages designed to blend modern luxury with the area's rich historical heritage. Each cottage, spanning over 1,000 square feet, will be named after significant local places and figures, including Dupont, Bulow, and Princess Place.
The cottages aim to reflect a vintage Florida lifestyle while providing contemporary amenities such as two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and Wi-Fi. Notably, the Princess suite will feature a spacious master bath with a jacuzzi tub and accommodations for up to six guests. The design of the cottages will vary, with some echoing the architectural charm of the island house and others showcasing distinct coastal aesthetics.
The project also emphasizes educational experiences, with plans to incorporate displays of historical artifacts and augmented reality features to enhance storytelling about Flagler County's heritage. The cottages will be strategically placed to offer views of the surrounding landscape and wildlife, with the first three cottages set to be built closest to the island house.
Additionally, the meeting included a virtual tour of the island house, showcasing its potential for hosting events such as weddings and parties. The facility will feature a caterer's kitchen, multiple event spaces, and a bridal suite designed for pre-event preparations.
This development is poised to not only enhance tourism in the area but also to celebrate and preserve the historical significance of Flagler County, creating a unique destination for visitors.
