Trustee Karen Arnett kicked off a community event at the Dunkin' Donuts located at Algonquin and Huntington, promoting the Special Olympics' \"Cop on the Rooftop\" fundraiser. Attendees are encouraged to enjoy coffee and donuts while supporting Special Olympics Illinois through merchandise purchases and donations. The event features a variety of items, including t-shirts, hats, and pins, with any donation earning participants a free donut. Additionally, coffee tumblers are available for $10, which includes a complimentary coffee.
In a separate highlight, the village celebrated the grand reopening of the Hilton Garden Inn on Barrington Road with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The hotel recently underwent a $2 million renovation, enhancing its 184 rooms and 2,000 square feet of meeting space. Trustee Arnett reminisced about the original ribbon-cutting in 2001, expressing optimism for the hotel's continued success in the community.
Furthermore, the Health and Human Services department announced the introduction of bone density screenings for residents. This initiative aims to address osteoporosis, a condition affecting over 54 million Americans, which can lead to weakened bones and increased fracture risk. The screenings are available to adults across all communities, emphasizing the village's commitment to public health and wellness.
