The Village of Lemont is gearing up for a vibrant summer filled with community events, including the much-anticipated Lamont Farmers Market, which kicks off tomorrow, June 11th, from 4 to 7 PM at the Village Green Park. The market will feature over 20 vendors and will continue every Tuesday through October 15th, weather permitting. Residents are encouraged to check the market's Facebook page or website for updates.

In addition to the farmers market, the village is hosting Downtown Cruise Nights every Wednesday from 6 to 9 PM, running through August 28th. This week’s event on June 12th will showcase Chevy and Corvettes, along with an expo night. The cruise nights are free to attend, and updates can be found on the village's website and Facebook page.

The popular Sunset Soirees are also returning, with the first event held last Thursday. This Thursday, June 13th, Whiskey Road will perform country hits from 7 to 10 PM on Steven Street, with seating available from 6 PM. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs and blankets for a comfortable evening.

In a notable announcement, the village is collaborating with the Forge Charitable Adventures and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources to host the 2024 Great Lakes Quarries Catch and Release Fishing Derby. This event aims to assess the health of local fish populations and runs through November 30th, with registration now open.

During the meeting, Development Director Jason Berry highlighted the recent celebration of Lemont's 150th anniversary as an incorporated village. The village has been commemorating this milestone throughout 2023 and into 2024, with various events and the introduction of a time capsule to be opened in 2123. Items included in the capsule will reflect the village's history and current culture, such as photographs, newsletters, and memorabilia from local events.
