Heroic Citizen Saves Lives in Dramatic House Fire Rescue

During a recent government meeting, the Mankato Department of Public Safety recognized Kyle Hess with a Citizen Appreciation Award for his heroic actions during a house fire on May 26, 2024. Fire Captain Bill Bowser nominated Hess, highlighting his quick response when he noticed flames coming from a residence on Spyglass Drive while driving home with his family.

As multiple 911 calls flooded in reporting the fire, Hess took immediate action. He stopped his vehicle, exited, and alerted the unaware occupants inside the burning home. His decisive efforts ensured that all residents were safely evacuated before firefighters arrived to confront the heavy smoke and flames engulfing the structure.
