During a recent government meeting, officials discussed the city's annual action plan, highlighting the allocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding. For the past two decades, the city has consistently received CDBG funding, and this year, it anticipates an allocation of $912,415 starting October 1.
The meeting also revealed that the city has achieved the status of a HUD participating jurisdiction, which opens the door to additional funding through HOME Grama funds. This new funding, amounting to $346,342.18, will enhance the city's capacity to address affordable housing needs.
Furthermore, officials noted that a matching requirement of $154,591 has been secured from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs (TDHCA). This match is part of the consolidated grant application process initiated in February, which also encompasses city-administered funds.
While the funding is contingent upon budget approval, the public hearing held during the meeting is a necessary step in compliance with HUD regulations, ensuring transparency and community involvement in the funding process.
