In a recent workshop held on July 9, the Cooper City Commission convened to discuss the preliminary landscape master plan, a project aimed at enhancing the city's public spaces. The meeting, attended by several commissioners and city officials, was led by representatives from Chen Moore Associates, who have been collaborating with city staff and community stakeholders to develop the plan.
The workshop served as a platform for gathering feedback on the landscape master plan, which has been shaped by community input through surveys and public meetings. Approximately 200 responses were collected from residents regarding various design options, reflecting a strong interest in the future of the city's public spaces. The final master plan is expected to be presented for approval to the City Commission in September.
Lance Lilly, a senior planner with Chen Moore, outlined the project's scope, which includes creating a unified landscape identity for the city, selecting streetscapes, and providing estimated costs for different concepts. The process began with information gathering and stakeholder workshops, followed by a public engagement workshop held in January, which attracted around 20 attendees.
The city utilized its email subscriber list, including registered utility account holders, to distribute a survey that garnered 184 complete responses over a 30-day period. This feedback will be instrumental in refining the master plan, which aims to reflect the unique character of Cooper City.
The next community workshop is scheduled for July 25, where residents will have another opportunity to provide input before the finalization of the master plan. The commission emphasized the importance of community engagement in shaping the future landscape of Cooper City, aiming to create public spaces that resonate with the community's vision and identity.
