In a recent government meeting, local legislators celebrated the 85th anniversary of Dunkin's Dairy Bar, a cherished establishment in Brunswick, New York. The resolution, presented by legislators Kitsal, Harrington, and Maloney, recognized the significant contributions of Dunkin's Dairy Bar to the community since its founding by John and Ruth Keller Duncan in 1938. Originally starting as an ice cream stand, the business has evolved over the decades, expanding its menu to include hot dogs, sandwiches, and breakfast specials, catering to local residents and RPI students alike.

The current owners, John Squaredo and his wife Julie, along with their children, continue the family legacy, using traditional recipes passed down through generations. Legislators shared personal anecdotes highlighting the establishment's role in their lives and the community, emphasizing the family's commitment to local fundraising efforts and community support.

In addition to honoring Dunkin's Dairy Bar, the meeting also recognized the achievements of local youth. Kate Ackerman, a senior at Maple Hill High School, was commended for her outstanding bowling season, which included winning the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Championship and overcoming personal adversity. The Columbia High School girls' bowling team was also celebrated for their undefeated season and state championship victory, marking their third title in the program's history.
