In a recent government meeting, officials discussed the installation of decorative bollards in the Fire Clay district, aimed at enhancing safety while maintaining aesthetic appeal. The project, which will utilize existing funds, is set to cost approximately $57,394. The bollards, designed to resemble smoke stacks, will be 36 inches tall, making it difficult for individuals to sit on them, thus reducing the risk of injury. The covers are made of plastic, allowing for easy maintenance should they become vandalized.
Additionally, the meeting highlighted updates on the downtown area plan following a successful open house held on August 14, which attracted around 50 attendees. Feedback from this event will be compiled and presented at a subsequent open house scheduled for September 6, from 6 to 8 PM. Officials expressed enthusiasm about the community engagement observed during the previous meeting, noting the productive discussions among citizens regarding local issues.
The council members confirmed their attendance at the upcoming open house, emphasizing the importance of public input in shaping the future of the downtown area.
