During a recent meeting, Marissa Prennis, the coordinator of activities, celebrated the remarkable achievements of students from Las Cruces Public Schools who excelled in various state and national competitions. The event highlighted the hard work and dedication of these students, bringing pride to their schools and the community.
Among the notable recognitions was Lacey Knight from Las Cruces High School, who secured 1st place in the FFA Agriscience Fair at the state level and will represent New Mexico at the national competition in Indianapolis this October. Additionally, the Las Cruces High School team, consisting of Zia Miller, Jaden Miller, Lily Martinez, and Paisley Anderson, won 1st place in the FFA Agriculture Communications Competition.
Tanner Dean from Mayfield High School was acknowledged for his achievements in goat production, receiving the FFA State Proficiency Award. At the national level, Jadzia Murphy from Centennial High School earned 3rd place in the Educators Rising Lesson Planning and Delivery Humanities Competition.
The meeting also recognized students who excelled at the HOSA International Leadership Conference, including Samantha Ramirez, Abdulai Ding, and Rhea Ramesh, who were top 10 national finalists in various health-related competitions. Furthermore, a team from Centennial High School received a gold medal at the FCCLA National Competition for their project in hospitality, tourism, and recreation.
Lastly, Paul Ritter and Lardahl Luray from Centennial High School achieved 3rd place in the SkillsUSA National Competition for television video production. Prennis expressed immense pride in all the students for their accomplishments, emphasizing the significance of their participation on such a large national stage.
The meeting concluded with a moment of silence in memory of two alumni, Lucas Miller and Victoria McFarland, who passed away on July 4th, reflecting the community's grief and the importance of cherishing loved ones.
