During a recent government meeting, Glenn, the Fleet Manager for Public Works, was recognized for his significant contributions to the city’s fleet management program. Since joining the team at the beginning of the year, Glenn has helped save the city hundreds of thousands of dollars and has implemented an innovative electronic QR code inspection program, moving the department towards a paperless operation. In acknowledgment of his efforts, Glenn received the mayor's award, highlighting the importance of teamwork in achieving these successes.
Following this recognition, Anne She, a Just Serve specialist, presented plans for the Heber Valley's observance of the 9/11 National Day of Service, scheduled for September 9th. The event will take place at the city park, starting at 9 AM with a flag ceremony and a light breakfast. Community members are invited to participate in various service projects, including beautification efforts at local sites and the creation of fleece blankets for inmates. The projects will be organized by neighborhood leaders, and individuals can sign up through the Just Serve website.
Anne emphasized the importance of community involvement, encouraging smaller neighborhoods to initiate their own projects in honor of the day. This year, there will be no formal closing ceremony, but the day will be documented through photos and success stories shared on the Just Serve platform. The city council expressed enthusiasm for the initiative, looking forward to promoting it through the city newsletter and website.
