The educator pointed out a significant decline in student enrollment at CKMS, dropping from 721 to 629, yet noted that class sizes have increased, leading to heightened stress among teachers. With a current teacher-to-student ratio of 15:1, the speaker emphasized the struggle to maintain motivation and engagement among students, particularly in light of staffing shortages. Out of 31 teachers, 10 did not return, with many citing better pay opportunities in neighboring districts as a driving factor for their departure.
The speaker also criticized the board's budget priorities, noting an increase in administrative spending while teacher salaries remained stagnant.
