The event has drawn interest from major national brands looking to invest in the area, particularly as plans progress to transform the facility into a hub for pickleball.
In a related discussion, the board addressed the application for Union Village Special District Three, a Planned Unit Development (PUD) stage two proposal. The project, which includes a 6,372 square foot Wawa convenience store and a ten-pump gas station, is set to be developed on a 32.535-acre site. The proposal includes three access points to the site, with specific traffic management measures to be determined by the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT).
Environmental considerations were also a focal point, as the development will maintain a 17.8-acre conservation area to protect existing wooded land and a stream running through the property. The applicant assured that no structures would be built within this conservation area, which is intended to remain undisturbed.
Residents voiced concerns regarding potential traffic issues stemming from the new development, particularly regarding increased traffic in their neighborhood. One resident expressed worries about drivers using their street as a turnaround, leading to damage to landscaping and increased noise.
