In a recent government meeting, officials revisited a proposal for a new cell tower at 520 Isaac Lane, initially tabled in February due to insufficient details regarding its height. The project, now back on the agenda, seeks to establish a 190-foot wireless communications tower, which may see a height reduction based on updated site conditions.
The proposed tower, designed to accommodate up to four cell carriers, is situated in an open zoning district, surrounded by large acreage single-family residential properties. The site is not within an existing growth management area, and the tower's location is approximately 455 to 900 feet from the nearest residential uses, exceeding the required setback of 380 feet.
During the meeting, it was noted that the applicant would provide further details on the potential height adjustment during their presentation. The tower's construction will include fencing and natural landscaping for screening, with access via existing private easements from Isaac Lane.
The planning commission will conduct a public hearing on the special review required for the project, followed by a decision from the board of county commissioners. The outcome of this proposal could significantly impact local telecommunications infrastructure and service quality in the area.
