During a recent government meeting, officials discussed several community events and safety concerns, emphasizing the importance of public participation and vigilance in light of ongoing fire risks.
The meeting highlighted the upcoming county fair, which will feature themed days celebrating various decades, culminating in a livestock auction on August 3rd. Attendees are encouraged to participate in open categories for their goods, regardless of affiliation with 4-H or FFA. The fair will also include rodeos on the weekends of July 26th and August 3rd.
Commissioners addressed the current wildfire situation in Pueblo County, where a fire has burned approximately 300 acres. Officials urged residents to exercise caution, particularly regarding fireworks, which pose a significant fire hazard. They reminded the public to report any fire incidents and to prioritize safety during the dry conditions.
In addition to community events, the meeting served as a reminder that election day was underway, with voting centers open from 7 AM to 7 PM at the Garden Park building.
The session also included a request for a special events permit for the Royal Gorge Chamber Alliance, allowing the organization to serve malt beverages at a business event scheduled for July 11, 2024, at Morshan Ranch Wedding and Event Center.
Overall, the meeting underscored the importance of community engagement in local events while addressing critical safety issues related to fire risks.
