Middle school esports team celebrates national tournament invitation

During a recent government meeting, notable achievements in local sports were highlighted, showcasing the dedication and success of both students and educators.

The meeting began with a commendation for a local esports team, which practices twice a week and has made significant strides in competition, reaching the top 16 in bracket play. This impressive performance earned them invitations to national tournaments, a point of pride for the community. Team members Eli Dayton, Colby Glance, Holden Norman, and Finley Watson, along with their coach, Miss Angela Watson, were recognized for their hard work and commitment. The board expressed hopes for their continued success in the coming year.

Additionally, Mike Warlick, the middle school athletic director, received the prestigious Athletic Director of Excellence Award from the North Carolina Athletic Directors Association.
