In a recent government meeting, officials discussed several community initiatives and upcoming events aimed at enhancing local engagement and recreational opportunities.
The meeting highlighted the closing date for a Request for Proposals (RFP) set for June 18, with an anticipated contract execution in mid-July. This initiative is expected to kickstart new projects aimed at improving community services.
The summer activity guide was also unveiled, featuring modifications to enhance its user-friendliness, including the addition of coloring pages for children. Officials encouraged feedback to further refine the guide.
A notable event, the Northern New Mexico Royalty Court Competition, took place recently, attracting seven registrants, though only six competitors participated. The competition resulted in a full queen's court, with participants ranging in age from 6 to 19. The newly crowned royalty will promote the upcoming fair and rodeo at various summer concerts.
Speaking of summer concerts, attendance has been robust, with nearly 26,000 attendees across three events since the series began on May 24. Upcoming performances include Nathaniel Krantz and Iron Chihuahua, with local acts opening for them.
Additionally, the community pool will open one Sunday each month, starting June 23, with subsequent openings on July 28 and September 22. August will be reserved for maintenance.
Lastly, a reminder was issued regarding a volunteer opportunity on June 29, from 8 AM to 11 AM, encouraging community members to participate.
The meeting concluded with expressions of gratitude for the ongoing efforts to enhance community engagement and recreational activities.
