In a recent government meeting, officials announced the acquisition of the Greyhound bus station in downtown Cleveland, which is set to be transformed into an entertainment space. The renovation plans are still in the early stages, with a consulting firm, Street Sense, engaged to evaluate the area and recommend the best use for the space. Preliminary ideas include a supper club on the first floor and various food and beverage concepts on the upper levels, aimed at enhancing the downtown vibe and complementing local theater events.
The meeting also addressed the status of The Lumen, a nearby development that is currently 88% occupied. Officials discussed challenges faced last year due to significant water damage that required the evacuation of 38 units and extensive repairs, which delayed occupancy for several months.
Additionally, the council discussed a $5 million economic development loan due in September 2025. Council members expressed urgency in expediting the necessary documentation to ensure timely payment and avoid interest rate increases. The administration assured that preparations for the amended documents are underway.
The meeting concluded with a resolution authorizing a $2 million loan for the relocation and expansion of Park Place Technologies in Highland Heights, with further details to be presented in upcoming sessions.
