In a recent government meeting, officials discussed significant resolutions aimed at enhancing social services and support for vulnerable populations in Lawrence County. The meeting highlighted the collaboration between the county and local agencies to address pressing community needs.

Kathy Gresnar from Lawrence County Social Services presented two key resolutions. The first resolution, numbered 235, seeks to formalize an agreement for the county to act as the administrator of the Human Services Development Fund. This fund is designed to support various programs, including a partnership with the Children's Advocacy Center and services for the homeless, employment assistance, and transportation services. Gresnar emphasized the fund's flexibility and its critical role in addressing diverse community needs.

The second resolution, numbered 236, focuses on the Homeless Assistance Program. Gresnar explained that this program, also funded through the Human Services block grant, aims to provide staffing for individuals working with those facing homelessness or addiction. It includes direct financial assistance for rental payments to prevent evictions and support individuals in securing stable housing.

Both resolutions were met with support from the commissioners, who voted unanimously to approve them, recognizing the importance of these initiatives in fostering community well-being.

Additionally, the meeting featured a discussion led by Mary Kelly, the director of domestic relations, regarding a proposed maintenance agreement for the fire alarm system at the domestic relations office. This agreement with Johnson Controls aims to ensure the safety and security of the facility.
