In a recent government meeting, a public hearing was held regarding a retail off-sale malt beverage liquor license for a Latino grocery store in South Dakota. The proposed establishment, led by Nitza Rubinstein, a former owner of a local restaurant, Fajitas, is set to open across from the Crystal Theatre at 212 East Second Avenue.
Rubinstein plans to operate a grocery store that will also sell beer, aiming to serve the local community with both food and beverage options. The location is situated on lots 4 and 789, as well as portions of lots 16, 17, and 18 in block 7 of the original plat of Flat New South Dakota.
During the meeting, it was clarified that no immediate action was required on the proposal, although there was an opportunity for approval that evening. The discussion highlighted the growing diversity in local business ownership and the potential for new retail options in the area. Further steps will be taken in subsequent meetings to finalize the licensing process.
