During a recent government meeting, Viola Perry from the CCI Bridal Justice Team addressed the council, highlighting ongoing efforts to advance the 2018 bridal profiling ordinance. Perry emphasized the team's commitment to addressing six key points outlined in the ordinance, which was passed by the council in 2020.
Perry noted collaboration with several council members, including Mandelbaum, Boesen, and Voss, as well as City Manager Sanders, particularly on two critical components: the establishment of a data analysis unit and the formation of a Community Advisory Board (CAB). Mayor Balson facilitated a meeting to provide updates on these initiatives.
In her remarks, Perry mentioned that the Mayor informed the team that a draft for the CAB is currently being developed and is expected to be completed in the coming weeks. This progress reflects the council's ongoing engagement with community stakeholders in addressing issues of racial justice and accountability.
