Community survey aims to amplify unheard voices

In a recent government meeting, officials emphasized the importance of a newly launched community health needs assessment survey designed to gather input from diverse populations. The survey, which has been translated into Haitian Creole and Spanish, aims to be more accessible than previous assessments by offering both digital and paper formats.

Participants can easily access the survey via a QR code or online, significantly reducing the barriers faced by those who may have struggled with earlier versions that relied on landline responses during work hours. The current survey consists of only 42 questions, a marked decrease from the previous 120-question wellbeing survey, making it less time-consuming for respondents.

Officials urged community members and organizations to actively promote the survey, highlighting its role in amplifying voices that are often overlooked. The survey is particularly crucial for understanding the social determinants of health and identifying the challenges faced by community benefit organizations that are currently experiencing funding difficulties.

The deadline for survey submissions is set for the end of August, and officials are encouraging widespread distribution to ensure comprehensive community participation.
