During a recent meeting, the board of school directors discussed several key items, including funding agreements and meal pricing for the upcoming school year.
The board approved the 2024-2025 Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Part B Section 619 original and American Rescue Plan (ARP) allocation use of funds agreement with the Chester County Intermediate Unit (CCIU). This agreement will support services for students with disabilities, including funding for contractors and psychologists.
Additionally, the board ratified an agreement with CCIU to receive funding for new Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and staff CPR training, made possible through state grants facilitated by Senator Katie Muth and Aiden's Heart Foundation. The initiative will provide 20 AED devices, including units for the police chief's vehicle and the stadium, ensuring rapid access in emergencies. Staff-wide training on the use of these devices will also be included.
The board also approved a payment of $12,500 for membership dues to the Delaware Valley Consortium for Excellence and Equity (DVCEE) for the 2024-2025 fiscal year. This membership, linked to the University of Pennsylvania, offers professional development and support focused on equity, benefiting the entire district.
Lastly, the board set adult meal prices for the 2024-2025 school year, maintaining the previous year's rates at $3 for breakfast and $4.75 for lunch, in compliance with USDA guidelines. Students will continue to receive meals at no charge.
These decisions reflect the board's commitment to enhancing educational services and ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff.
