During a recent government meeting, high school representatives provided an update on various student-led initiatives, including preparations for homecoming and upcoming events. The seniors are spearheading the homecoming festivities with a theme centered around civilization, featuring sub-themes such as Ancient Greece, the Lost City of Atlantis, Vikings, and Ancient Heroes for each class. T-shirts are being sold for $13 to support the event, and tickets for the homecoming game are currently on sale.
The representatives also highlighted the success of recent practices for the homecoming game, noting strong attendance from juniors, while seniors are being encouraged to participate more actively. The school is promoting \"Hog Pride\" by incentivizing students to wear red school colors, with prizes for participation.
Looking ahead, the students are organizing a Red Hawk Plaza fundraiser in conjunction with the Harvest Festival on October 26th, and juniors are already planning for prom, having selected a venue at Frederick Fire Gardens. Sophomores are also brainstorming themes for a snow cone event in February.
In addition to the student updates, the meeting included a call for nominations for the 2024 MASV delegates, with Mr. Shafi being nominated to represent Cedar Springs Public Schools at an upcoming law conference. The board is set to finalize this decision in the near future.
