In a recent government meeting, officials celebrated the success of Independence Fest, which attracted an estimated 22,000 attendees. The event, held on July 4th, featured a children's parade and various entertainment options, thanks to the efforts of local volunteers, police, fire departments, public works, and parks and recreation staff. Organizers expressed gratitude to sponsors who helped keep the event free for the community.
Despite the large turnout, officials noted that Independence Fest does not generate significant revenue. While vendor booth fees and sponsorships provide some financial support, the town still incurs costs to host the event. Planning for next year's festival is already underway, reflecting its growing importance to the community.
The meeting also included a review of the minutes from the previous Community Development Corporation (CDC) meeting, which were unanimously approved by the directors. Additionally, a public hearing was scheduled to discuss a staff request for an addition to the budget for the upcoming year, indicating ongoing financial planning and community engagement efforts.
