During a recent government meeting, the vice mayor opened the session with a pledge of allegiance and a moment of silence to honor the victims of the September 11 attacks. The meeting included a public call where David Oropeza introduced Esteban Cervantes, an undergraduate student from Stanford University.
Cervantes presented his community project, which he developed with a grant from the organization Biology For Everyone. His initiative involved creating a gardening project at Lehi Canchas Verdes, a local park. With the support of his family and community members, Cervantes established three garden beds and donated two citrus trees—a lemon tree and an orange tree—to enhance the park's green space.
Cervantes expressed his passion for gardening and invited the community to visit the park to see the fruits of his labor. The council members thanked him for his contributions and acknowledged the positive impact of such community-driven projects.
